Understanding Primavera P6 Schedule Dates

P6 Dates

Primavera P6 dates are the core of any time schedule, that’s why everyone who uses Primavera P6 needs to understand how P6 dates are calculated.

Primavera P6 Dates

Start: The Current start date for the activities OR the Remaining Start date when activities not started OR the actual start date when activities are in progress.

Finish: The current finish date OR The Planned Finish date when activities not started OR Remaining Finish date while in progress OR Actual Finish date when completed.

Actual Start:  This Primavera P6 date is the date on which the activities are actually started.

Planned Start: This P6 date is the date in which the activities are scheduled to begin.

Planned Finish: The date in which the activities are scheduled to finish.

Early Start: The earliest possible date the remaining work of the activities must start

Early Finish: The earliest possible date the remaining work of the activities must finish

Late Start: The latest possible date the remaining work of the activities must start without delaying the project end date.

Late Finish: The latest possible date the remaining work of the activities must finish without delaying the project end date.

Planned Start: This P6 date is the Early Start or a manual date until activities started

Planned Finish: Early Finish or a manual date until activities finished

Remaining Start: Planned Start until started  OR Data date OR blank upon completion

Remaining Finish: Planned Finish until started OR  blank upon completion

Anticipated Start: The expected start date of the Project, or WBS level, manually entered and don’t affect by scheduling. An anticipated start date can’t be entered at the activity level.

Anticipated Finish: The expected finish date of the Project, or WBS level, manually entered and don’t affect by scheduling. An anticipated finish date can’t be entered at the activity level.
